Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Do I have to be a church member to be in the choir?
A. Yes. You will need to have completed the Front Door membership classes before joining the choir.
Q. Is there a minimum age requirement to be in the adult choir?
A. Yes. You must be 16 years of age or older. Anyone who is under the age of 16 should contact the Student
Ministry for ministry opportunities in their age group.
Q. Do I have to know how to read music?
A. No.
Q. Do I have to have any prior music experience?
A. No.
Q. What kind of time will I have to devote to this ministry (such as rehearsals & services)?
A. You should be prepared to devote time for practicing on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Choir
members who cannot practice on Saturday mornings will not sing in the Sunday morning service for that week.
The choir will usually sing every other Sunday during both service times or according to the published schedule.
On Sunday morning, the call time for the choir is 7 a.m.
Q.What about my children? Will childcare be provided?
A. Yes, but you must pre-register your child by contacting Sissie Ferguson in the Preschool office.
Q. Will I have to audition in front of people?
A. The intent of the audition is to determine if the person can sing on pitch. During the audition, the section leader will
sing along with two people that are auditioning. If there are not two people auditioning at the same time, the section
leader will sing along with the person who is auditioning. The Worship Pastor, Director of Instrumental Ministries,
Magnification Pastor and the appropriate choir section leader will conduct the auditions. A choir application form
should be completed before auditioning. You may download this PDF file by clicking the link below.
Q. Are there special clothing requirements?
A Yes, the CHC Magnification Team Sunday dress code is MODEST CASUAL, including "classy" denim
jackets, jeans & skirts and accessories.
Q. What if I have special health issues? (i.e.: physical problems)
A. Choir members should be able to stand for 30 minutes.
Q. I'm already involved in other ministries at CHC. What happens if they overlap?
A. It is possible to be involved in more than one ministry at CHC. However, if the other ministry conflicts with the
Saturday practice requirement, then consideration should be given as to which ministry you are being called.
Q. What would I need to do in order to be on the Praise Team or sing solos?
A. All praise team members and soloists are required to be a part of the choir for at least six months before being
considered for the praise team. The Magnification leadership will invite those they feel should audition for the
praise team.
